Some Thoughts as We Approach 2026

The chaos of the holidays fades, the champagne’s gone flat, and suddenly — it’s quiet again. That calm before the storm where everyone starts setting goals, dreaming big, and convincing themselves that this is the year.

And honestly? I love it. There’s something powerful about a clean slate.

Looking back on 2025, I couldn’t be prouder of what the IPC family accomplished. The wins, the setbacks, the long weeks and early mornings — all of it. We’ve grown stronger not just as individuals, but as a community built on relentless consistency. What started as a vision years ago has turned into something that moves with purpose (Back to back CEBL champs has a nice ring to it).

As I reflect, one word keeps coming up: alignment. We’ve proven we can hustle — that’s never been the issue. Now, it’s about sharpening focus. Doing it better. Choosing the few things that truly move the needle and chasing them with everything we’ve got. Whether it’s preparing athletes for the next level, elevating our staff to be the best in the province or building a community deeply connected by a passion for improvement. I look to make sure our “North Star” is clear beyond measure to ensure we take the best care of the people that call IPC home.

Here’s how I’m approaching 2026:

1. Action Over Everything

If there’s one universal truth, it’s this: thinking about doing something never gets it done. I’ve wasted too much time in the past over-planning — trying to predict every outcome before taking the first step. We’ve had some great pilot projects this past year, some better than others. Of all the ideas that have come to fruition, they all had 2 things in common: action (as messy as it may be) and consistency (do the thing, do it again, repeat).

This year, it’s about forward motion.
👉 What would this look like if it were simple?
👉 What’s the next immediate move I can make?

Perfect plans don’t build progress — execution does. Our team is going to continue to take messy action in 2026, even if it means falling on our faces a few times (don’t worry, our sense of humour helps take the edge off).

2. Consistency Over Intensity

Every January, the same pattern shows up: big promises, big bursts, quick burnouts. People swing for the fences and forget that singles win games too. Heck, I’m no different. My impatience has sometimes been my own demise.

But when the dust settles, consistency is the only thing that compounds. Whether it’s right here in the weight room or in one’s personal life, the steady actions executed over time that are flexible to adapt to objection are one that build the path to success (however you define it).

Small steps, stacked daily — that’s what creates real transformation. Finding the small wins throughout the process poses further curiosity of our own capabilities. This curiosity enables us to seek the truth of what we are truly capable of, even if it’s an uncomfortable path. Keep being curious.

3. Process Over Outcomes

Results come and go (they can be fleeting at times). Processes stay.

There are times where I would chase results so hard that I missed the point — it’s the system behind the result that matters most. This past year, I focused on refining structure — routines, systems, and standards that keep moving even when motivation fades. I decided on taking “messy” action; just doing it and figuring it out as we go. Our team piloted projects just to see what would happen (Our Performance Matters Podcast for example) so we could figure out what to do next. I couldn’t be more proud of everyone’s efforts.

“Success isn’t luck. It’s a process executed well, consistently, over time — with just enough flexibility to adapt when life gets messy.”

Heading into 2026, I review the outcomes as a measure of the process followed to get them and I encourage everyone to take a moment to do the same. Review what went well, what could be better and celebrate the “glows and grows” throughout. Whether or not your desired result came to fruition, it doesn’t disregard the work you did. There’s a lot to be said for learning what doesn’t work, even if it means you haven’t quite figured out what’s ideal for you. Addition by subtraction some might say. Stay diligent, the results will follow.

Closing Thoughts

As we kick off 2026, don’t wait for the “perfect moment.” Don’t overthink it. Just start.

Take one step, then another. Build momentum through motion, and figure it out as you go. That’s what our staff and community are all about. We’re here to support each other on the collaborative journey to improvement.

Because this year isn’t about doing everything — it’s about doing what matters. Whatever that pinnacle looks like for you.

We’re ready. The IPC family’s dialed in and hungry for another year of hard work, growth, and grit.

Let’s make 2026 the year of clarity, consistency, and relentless execution.

Let’s move the dirt.
